Electrolysis of hydrochloric acid: Recovery of chlorine from hydrochloric acid.
Improvement in sustainable social contribution and cost reduction through chlorine recovery from hydrochloric acid.
This document covers "Electrolysis of Hydrochloric Acid." Chlorine is one of the widely used basic chemicals, primarily utilized in the production of organic compounds. However, chlorine used as a raw material is rarely included in the final product, and hydrogen chloride or hydrochloric acid is generated as a byproduct. By electrolyzing hydrochloric acid (electrolysis of hydrochloric acid) to recover chlorine, the need for on-site chlorine production through salt electrolysis and the transportation of chlorine is eliminated. The gas diffusion electrode hydrochloric acid electrolysis process saves about 30% more energy compared to conventional processes and indirectly contributes to the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions. On the other hand, unlike the membrane process, hydrogen is not produced. The chlorine generated by the gas diffusion electrode hydrochloric acid electrolysis process is of extremely high purity.
